Rañon is Tampa’s oldest continuously operating construction company and one of the region’s largest home-based general contractors. For nearly a century, we’ve built the spaces that define Tampa’s landscape, a legacy that continues through four generations of leadership.
Through every shift in methods, materials, and technology, Rañon has endured—meeting challenges with craftsmanship, integrity, and partnership. From modern hospitals and office buildings to historic schools and warehouses, we’ve helped shape and preserve the Tampa Bay community. Our enduring goal remains the same: to complete every project in true collaboration with our clients and partners, a principle that has guided our success for nearly a century and will continue for the next.
1930: Friends and Spanish immigrants Domingo Rañon and Maximo Jimenez form Rañon & Jimenez, building homes, churches, and park pavilions that still stand in Tampa’s historic neighborhoods.
1930s–1940s: The company becomes a trusted builder in Ybor City, establishing a reputation for craftsmanship and community.
Domingo’s sons Angel and José, and Maximo’s son Arcadio join the family business. The company transitions from residential to commercial construction.
1963: Rañon & Jimenez incorporates, formalizing its place in Florida’s construction industry.
1973–1985: Third-generation leadership joins—Joseph Rañon Jr., Frank Colelli, and Carlos Rañon.
1980: First project for St. Joseph’s Hospital, beginning decades of healthcare specialization.
1999: Partnership begins at H. Lee Moffitt Cancer Center.
2004: Rañon & Jimenez, Inc. becomes Rañon, Inc., reflecting its independent identity.
2013: The first fourth-generation family member joins, ensuring the Rañon legacy as one of Tampa’s oldest and most respected continuously operating general contractors.
